Record result for the Nammo Group in its tenth year
posted Monday, May 4, 2009 8:06 AM
The Nammo Group delivered its tenth year financial performance in 2008 and closed the year by another record result since its formation in 1998.
The Group has increased its sales by 14%. Sales totalled 3 130 MNOK compared with 2 745 MNOK in 2007. The pre-tax profit for 2008 amounted to (NIBT) 375 MNOK compared with 361 MNOK in 2007. The first ten years since the formation of Nammo, the company has gradually developed from being a strong Nordic player, to an international competitive and well recognized supplier of ammunition and missile products. In 2008, 68% of the sales went to customers outside the Nordic region (Finland, Norway, Sweden). These sales covers 33% other Europe, 29% USA/Canada and approximately 6% in the Far East/Australia. Nammo continues to sharpen its focus on high-tech niche products in a customer oriented market. “Due to the financial crises the future is more uncertain than the previous years, but we still have to maintain and utilize what we have learned in the past. We will continue to cooperate and build teams across boarders, be focused on the customers requirements, be close to the home market and be flexible to adjust the organization to market trends, says President & CEO, Edgar Fossheim.”

Mesa firms honored for community service

Mesa firms honored for community service
By Edward Gately, Tribune
April 15, 2009
A decades-old family business, a locally owned fast-food restaurant and a military contractor were given awards by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce Wednesday for their charitable efforts to help the community. The annual Mesa Chamber Awards Luncheon recognizes businesses that have shown an interest in the community beyond the normal course of doing business, said Charlie Deaton, the chamber's president and CEO. This year's winners are:
"These are businesses who are serving on various boards, whether they're chamber or other agency boards, nonprofit boards like the United Way and Feed the Family, those things that make a business a little different than someone who just simply is out to make a profit," Deaton said. Nammo Talley's 550-acre campus in northeast Mesa develops, tests and manufactures a wide range of propellant-based products. Employees there have always been self-motivated to help the community, said Steve Wagner, president. "When you live and work in the community, you really have a responsibility to be part of that, and that's what the key is with our community program," he said. "(During a recession) there's actually a bigger responsibility on the part of companies to reach out and support the people around you who may not be in the best of times."

Nammo Talley, Inc. deploys Earned Value Management
posted Thursday, April 16, 2009 4:18 PM
Nammo Talley, Inc. deploys Earned Value Management solution resulting in IBR success
(MMD Newswire) April 16, 2009 -- Nammo Talley, Inc. announces successful implementation of an earned value management system that was initiated to support two contracts requiring earned value. Earned Value Management (EVM) is a project management technique for measuring project progress in an objective manner. EVM has the unique ability to combine measurements of scope, schedule, and cost in a single integrated system. Nammo Talley announces successful implementation of an earned value system that is process based and maps to roles within the organization. "We did enough research internally to know that earned value is more than just a few simple calculations provided by some off the shelf software, states Jim Speer, IT Director of Nammo Talley, Inc. Earned value is the culmination of project management disciplines and best practices. This management discipline called EVMS (Earned Value Management System) allows for quality output of project performance data. With the help of Tampa based 748 Inc, we were able to implement an earned value application with role based processes to support this system. Additionally, we feel we made a great investment in that we're able to bid all jobs that require earned value reporting or even an EVMS certification qualification for jobs over $50 million." "As a supplier to Raytheon and the US Marine Corps of the next generation SMAW (Shoulder Launched Multipurpose Assault Weapon), Nammo Talley exceeded the threshold of $20 M in this program, states Nick Duke, SMAW Program Manager. Earned Value was required by the DOD due to this threshold and we needed a system and processes in place to support this requirement. 748 Inc trained us to get a basic understanding of earned value, configured applications and provided custom process and application training. The end result of this work boosted the maturity of project management in our organization and lead to a very successful Integrated Baseline Review (IBR) with the Marine Corps and Raytheon." "As a supplier to Boeing on their CMS (Counter Mine Strike) program earned value management is required, states Rebecca Cote, CMS Program Manager. We needed to not only get a system in place quickly, but we also needed to understand how to support it throughout the organization. 748 Inc got us up to speed very quickly. They also assisted us in prepping for the IBR with Boeing. As a result, the IBR was a great success." 748 Inc provides professional consulting services to government contractors, engineering and construction, energy firms, transportation industries that are in need of project management and earned value management ANSI / EIA 748 compliance.

Nammo Talley and the United Way
posted Monday, March 30, 2009 7:53 AM
An article posted in The Commercial Dispatch "Despite dip in giving, United Way helps 17,000 in 2008" by Kristin Mamrack a staff reporter for The Commercial Dispatch on March 27, 2009 writes:
“In tough economic times, contributions to the United Way of Lowndes County have been down, but the organization — in its 55th year — was able to distribute about $310,000 to the agencies it serves. The fundraising goal for the United Way has been $600,000 for the last few years, but the goal wasn’t met this year, due to weather-related disasters and economic downturns, said Executive Director Jan Ballard, noting the United Way allocations committee worked with a budget of about $210,000 and was forced to use reserve funds for allocations to agencies served by the United Way of Lowndes County. “But we did have some very good campaigns with many of the businesses and industries enabling us to allocate funds at the level we did this year,” she added. “We’re no different than any other organization,” said Jim Wilson, the outgoing president of the United Way of Lowndes County Executive Committee. “When we have a downturn in our economy, we see a downturn in contributions. This year, we were unable to level-fund (our agencies), but we’re hopeful as the economy rebounds, so will our contributions. These funds are important to a lot of people.” During its annual luncheon Thursday, the United Way of Lowndes County recognized several individuals and businesses for their contributions to the community. .... Community Matters awards Receiving the Community Matters Award for contributions of between $1,000 and $4,999 were Brunini, Grantham, Grower and Hewes, PLLC, city of Columbus employees, Lowndes County employees, BancorpSouth, Mitchell, McNutt and Sams, P.A., J.C. Penney No. 1829, Galloway-Chandler-McKinney Insurance, Columbus Air Force Base, Citizens National Bank, Recovery House, Wal-Mart No. 495, Atmos Energy, Ellisville State Schools Community Programs, Nammo Talley and Rhett Real Estate.” Nammo Talley Inc is proud to assist the United Way and be a part of the community. Talley Defense Systems in the news AGAIN!
posted Monday, February 2, 2009 2:03 PM
In a recent Defense Industry Daily article titled: F.I. - Russia Dominant in Soldier-Portable Rockets Through 2018 (25-Jan-2009) stated:
Talley Defense Systems (now Nammo Talley) line of M72 LAW and M141 Bunker Defeat Munitions has gained considerably since 2005. The usefulness of smaller LAW rockets that may not work against tanks, but are very portable and effective against fortified rooms and building strongholds, has become clearer to American forces, and to some of their allies. Talley Defense Systems larger SMAW has also gained strong recognition from the front lines, and the Marines now plan on a SMAW-II. The firm now sees Talley Defense Systems products accounting for 19.38% of production, and 16.78% of total dollars, through 2018 (2005: 5.14% of production, 5.26% of total dollars, through 2014)". Due to expanding growth and the wealth of positive news we receive, Nammo Talley is hiring more than ever. Adding Project Engineers, Test Engineers, Machinists, Manufacturing Managers, Quality Engineering Managers and more. So if you are interested in working for a well known highly respected defense contractor, may I suggest checking our website at: http://www.talleyds.com/careers/jobindex.html.
